First Tuesday Art Walk March 5, 5:30-7:30
Poet and/the Bench is excited to keep doors open late to welcome you tonight for the Downtown Mill Valley Art Walk from 5:30-7:30pm.
Many of our neighbors have individual artist features and group shows to inspire the imagination on this monthly walk-about, map here (we’re at Throckmorton and E. Blithedale just before no 17 on the map).
At Poet and/the Bench we’re featuring:
We have new sculptural wall-hangings by multi-format artist Nan Collymore. Nan is a jewelry designer (we have her jewelry collection, too!), writer and textile artist in the East Bay; her Fragile and Fragments are a series of conversations in fiber.
Main-based Jean Jack examines her interest in the strong lines of architecture in the context of weathered beauty. Jean’s oil paintings of barns and farm houses, while based on photographs she takes, are a shift in perspective through the exquisite arrangements where the buildings fit themselves into the landscape, and the sky fills in the spaces between the two. PS Jean’s daughter is the Mill Valley-based inimitable interior designer, Kress!
Laura’s abstract paintings explore the interplay of color, shape, and texture with intuition and movement. Her light-filled studio is in Mill Valley where she uses common household and construction tools, in addition to traditional palette knives, in her mixed-media studies and assemblage with found, broken and collected objects.
We’d love to see you Tuesday evening at our new location!
